Diving

I stepped barefoot on the tile floor of the pool. It felt cold, and barren unlike the clean, smooth wood floor at my house. I was here for my favorite sport, swimming. Instead of lap swimming, I wanted to practice diving just to get better at it, even though it’s not my favorite thing to do. I saw the water ripple, and watched it with delight. Never have I noticed the smell of the water, probably because it smelled like nothing but chlorine.

I got into my diving position, my hands held together facing the water. My feet, one before the other. I leaned over, and practiced diving elegantly without getting water up my nose, which of course irritated me. Then I dove. As I did so, I blew air out of my nose, so no water would enter it. The water had always felt icy at first, but soon enough I got used to it. When I dashed fast through the water, after I dove, the water slid past me, and I jumped out of the water. I moved my hands and feet to keep myself afloat, yet soon they got tired. Then I slowly swam to the edge of the pool, and pulled myself up.

I dove once again, and I accidentally got a taste of the icky pool water. It tasted like chlorine.

“Now I will dive one last time,” I had said. As the last time I dove, my eyes kept closed, and I felt like I was flying through the clouds while being rained on. Weird Huh? Nope, not for me!

As I climbed out of the water, I felt like I had definitely accomplished something. I couldn't wait to do this again!
